About Us

      Department of Mechanical Engineering at Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology was established in the year 2008, is one of the largest in terms of faculty, students, and activities, which continues to lead and expand its activities in various directions. We at the Department of Mechanical Engineering are well equipped with proficient and well qualified faculty. Mechanical Engineering education here is more than classroom lectures. Our department endeavors to prepare our undergraduate and graduate students for careers in traditional Mechanical Engineering fields. The department has the latest and most updated facilities in CAD/CAM/CAE in par with the Industry requirements. Students are given wide-ranging job-oriented training on the latest software like SolidWorks, CATIA, TEKLA, Pro-E, ANSYS, etc. The available equipment, quality in instruction and a prominence on quality of education in Mechanical Engineering combine to prepare the student to step into positions of accountability at the leading edge of today's technology. Laboratory experiments conducted in a well-maintained facility give the student a hands-on approach in the use of engineering principles and the opportunity to cultivate creative approaches to problems. One of the advantages of being a Mechanical Engineer is the breadth of employment opportunities that are available upon graduation. Our department is having well experienced staff members both in educational and industrial side which would help the students in various aspects like improvement in exam results and also in recruitment. Well-equipped lab facilities for both UG and PG are available. Fully furnished staff room with all state of the art facilities like laptop and desktop computers, scanners, printers, intercom, purified drinking water, Wi-Fi internet connectivity. Central library system with access to journals like IEEE, Springer, DELNET, etc. is available. Very good infrastructural engineering facilities. University question bank with answer keys are uploaded in the cybernet of college helps the students to improve their performance. Green environment of the college helps the students to study peacefully. RO-water facility in and around the college. One of the very big campus among the engineering colleges in the pudukkottai district. Conducting national level technical seminar and workshops ever year.


Programme Educational Objectives

  • PEO1: Graduates will be able to know the basic concept and gain advanced knowledge in science and engineering to have an excellent career in mechanical and interdisciplinary domains.
  • PEO2: Graduates of Mechanical Engineering will be able to acquire recent technologies to inculcate research ideas towards design and manufacturing.
  • PEO3: Graduates will be able to gain mastery over Mechanical Engineering and be skilful in solving real-time problems.


Programme Specific Outcomes

  • PSO1: Understand the fundamental concepts of the Mechanical Engineering domain and apply the knowledge in various industries such as design and manufacturing.
  • PSO2: Apply the knowledge in the usage of modern tools which are used to resolve real-time problems in Mechanical Engineering.
  • PSO3: Develop professional and entrepreneurial skills to meet industrial requirements and solve ethical problems in society.


Programme Outcomes (PO)

Programme Outcome (POs) is the outcomes that students are expected to know and be able to perform or attain by time of graduation. Our Programme Outcomes are as follow:

  1. Engineering Knowledge - Ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, mechanical engineering fundamentals and specialization to the solutions of complex engineering problems;
  2. Problem Analysis - Ability to identify, formulate, conduct research literature and analyze complex engineering problems using principles of mathematics, natural sciences and mechanical engineering sciences;
  3. Design/Development of Solutions - Ability to design mechanical solutions for complex engineering problems and systems, components or processes that meet specified needs;
  4. Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems - Ability to conduct investigation of complex problems using research based knowledge and research methods to provide valid conclusions;
  5. Modern Tool Usage - Ability to develop and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and innovative engineering tools to complex mechanical engineering activities;
  6. The Engineer and Society - Ability to apply contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues with the awareness of the consequent responsibilities to professional mechanical engineering practice for the betterment of society;
